Growing Satsuma Blood Plum in Sydney

Choose a sunny, open position with good air circulation. Satsuma Plum performs best in fertile, well-drained soil and plenty of direct sunlight.

Water consistently while establishing and during flowering and fruit development. Additional watering during hot and dry periods will help support healthy fruit production.

Feed with a quality fruit-tree fertiliser during the growing season. Prune appropriately to maintain a strong framework, encourage productive growth and allow good airflow through the canopy.

Pollination

Satsuma can produce fruit without necessarily requiring another plum tree, but fruit set can be improved when a compatible plum variety is flowering nearby. If you have space for only one plum tree, ask our Sai Nursery team about the best option for your garden.
