Growing Harumwangi Mango in Sydney

Mangoes love warmth, sunlight and good drainage, so selecting the right position is particularly important in Sydney.

☀️ Sunlight:
Choose a position receiving around 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day. A north-facing or warm sunny position is ideal.

🌱 Soil:
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Mangoes do not perform well when their roots remain constantly wet.

💧 Watering:
Water deeply during establishment and during hot, dry periods. Once established, avoid keeping the soil continuously soggy.

🌿 Feeding:
Feed during active growth with a quality fruit tree fertiliser. Regular feeding supports healthy foliage, flowering and fruit development.

🍂 Mulching:
Apply organic mulch around the root zone to help retain moisture and regulate soil temperature. Keep mulch away from the trunk.

✂️ Pruning:
Light pruning can help maintain a manageable shape and encourage a strong branching structure. Avoid excessive pruning.

❄️ Sydney winters:
Protect young trees from frost, cold winds and exposed winter positions. A warm, sheltered location can make a significant difference to establishment.
